The six windows in the north aisle were made around 1210 and they focus on the stories of the Old Testament (the stories of Noah and of Joseph in Egypt) and the lives of the saints (Saint Nicholas, Saint Eustace and Saint Lubin). The last window focuses on the death of Christ and is known as the Redemption window. Together with the north rose and the north porch, they form an iconographical program.
All the windows were donated by merchant guilds, including the wine merchants, carpenters, money-changers, apothecaries, farriers and furriers among others, which gives an indication of the prosperity of Chartres and the variety of trading in the town and its vicinity.
